Gov. Brian Kemp has declared this week, March 18-22, Georgia Small Business Week. Highlighting the importance of the 800,000 registered small businesses in our state, the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) announced the 2019 Small Business Rock Stars on Monday at a luncheon co-sponsored by the Georgia Economic Developers Association. This annual recognition celebrates four companies that have had a significant economic impact on their communities, including increases in sales, product lines, revenue, jobs and exporting.
This year’s Rock Stars are:
- Atlanta’s ASW Distillery (nine employees)
- Marietta’s InPrime Legal (11 employees)
- Blue Ridge’s Oyster Fine Bamboo Fly Rods (nine employees)
- Cordele’s Southern Fiber Worx (six employees)
These companies were chosen from more than 350 nominations – a 600 percent increase over 2018 nominations – representing 75 counties, 59 percent of which were located outside Metro Atlanta. A panel of judges reviewed all nominations and selected the winners.
