A who’s who of Georgia business, government, nonprofits, education and more were on hand at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta for Georgia Trend’s 2018 Georgian of the Year and 100 Most Influential Georgians event today.
Georgia Department of Transportation Commissioner Russell McMurry, the 2018 Georgian of the Year, was lauded for, among other things, getting I-85 back online in six weeks after last year’s fire shut it down. McMurry, when he spoke, gave all the credit to the unsung heroes at GDOT who, he said, are the real workhorses.
New Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms welcomed the attendees. Georgia Trend Publisher Emeritus Neely Young, who retired last year, received an award for his 18 years of leadership at the magazine.
A big thank you to our event sponsors: AT&T, Lockheed Martin, Georgia Power, Georgia Chamber and Kennesaw State University.
